Hello, everyone I would like
to thank all of you who share my love of these Big Friends. I
have recieved lots of emails and phone calls after writing about
them. We now have two articles in Disneyana Tomart Magazine. Issues
number 60,62 and 64. Both magazines have great pictures and issue
62 has a checklist. The next Issue will have an update.I have
listed them to the best of my knowledge. Below is a sample of
what will be coming out in the issue. The Ulimate Guide to Disney
Big Fig is available for pre-order now. This is a great book for
the collectors lots of great info on our Big Figs and people
sharing their collection.
There are some new ones out
Tink 50th at Disneyland, Bandleader Mickey at WDW, Pongo and
the puppies at Disneyshopping.com and Disneyautions. Soon
there will be a new line for thise of us who like these large
figures as soon as I have pictures i will post more
info. As, with all collectibles it is always
nice to know as much as you can about them. I am
going to try and answer your questions and give you the latest news
in the Big Fig line.
1) New releases how do you
know which characters, when, and
where?
These unlike
the other collectible lines do not have regular release dates. So
the best way I can answer this from my own
experience. That would be the Parks, Disney Direct and Disney
Auctions. I know that Ebay is away to find the new releases but
always check the retail sources first. The secondary market can be
costly but does provide the chance to get the ones that are no
longer available. The number and
websites are listed below.
2 )
Change in the size coming
?
There is a
change in the size of the Big Fig coming and the first two releases
are at WDW they are smaller about 14 to 16
inches the price will be the same. I have pictures of the first two
that are snow White at the Well and The Evil Queen. They are
supposed to be more detailed and have light, sound and music.
Others have claimed to want them smaller so they more room to
display them. I am waiting for the new smaller version to come out
to give my opinion. But I have seen them in other countries. I
bought one and I still love the big guys but as with everything
people have different needs and
likes.
3)
Is there a Checklist?
I, did
create a checklist as I was collecting them that is to my knowledge
pretty close to what has come out. Please email if there are any I
am missing. It, includes if they have light,
sound , music, movement and special effects. I believe when they
began producing them they did not plan on
them becoming regular items. The current list has a total of 144
figures released. See
list
4)
Secondary Market Price
Guide?
Well, this
as with all Disney is a given of course. I know myself I bought my
first one on Ebay at $400.00 plus then the search began to find the
others. Some of which where no longer available anymore. The prices
can change due to the demand at the time of the characters people
are looking for. The price guide I am listing is the original price
and the prices averaged that I seen them sell
for.
See list
5)
Similar Figurines Produced
Overseas?
Yes, there
are some made overseas Europe and Canada by
Peter Mook. They are smaller and different than
what we have here. So always check to see where they are being
made. I did purchase one and it arrived and I was expecting a large
one like my
others.
6)
Where can we get them?
There are four sources that
I know of that are available to purchase them
from . Then there are places such as ebay where people are selling
their collections or older pieces. Just always check to see if they
are still available from the origin source. The best way to
buy is always in their
original boxes to prevent breakage.
